Guiding our Students' Future Studies

The University and Careers Guidance Department aims to empower every student to make informed academic, extracurricular and career decisions that reflect their individual strengths, interests and long-term aspirations. This work is delivered through a structured, longitudinal guidance programme that integrates academic planning, career exploration and university advising.

Guidance Program

Students receive structured guidance throughout Senior School, from Form III to Form VI. Support includes individual advising, group sessions and year-level programming focused on subject selection, academic planning, career exploration and university applications in Peru and abroad. Our approach is developmental and sustained, ensuring that students are prepared not only to apply to universities, but to choose academic environments that align with their goals and needs.

University Engagement

San Silvestre maintains active relationships with leading universities in Peru and internationally. Each year, the department hosts an annual University and Careers Fair open to the school community and welcomes admissions officers for on-campus and virtual visits throughout the academic year.

Career and Vocational Guidance

Career exploration is an integral component of our programme. In collaboration with Estudio Henderson, students have access to expert vocational guidance using internationally recognised assessments, including the MBTI and Thouper Betesa tests. This is complemented by department-led workshops and individual advising, ensuring students receive comprehensive support.

Signature Programs

Each year, the department designs a Transformation Week for all Form IV students. Extending beyond IB preparation, the programme brings SAT and global admissions experts to campus, features inspirational panels composed of successful alumnae and parents representing diverse university and career pathways, and offers hands-on career workshops led by professors from leading local universities.

Appointments

Students may request individual appointments in person or virtually, during or after the school day. To schedule a meeting, students or families should email a counsellor directly, indicating the countries, universities and topics of interest.

University Visits

San Silvestre welcomes visit requests from university representatives throughout the academic year. In-person visits may be scheduled from Monday to Thursday during lunch (12:50 to 1:40 pm) or after school (3:45 to 4:35 pm), subject to availability and alignment with our academic calendar and student programming.

Due to the high volume of requests and the structure of our guidance programme, in-person visits cannot always be guaranteed. When an on-campus visit is not possible, the University and Careers Guidance Department offers a 30-minute virtual meeting with a counsellor to support institutional engagement and information sharing.

Preferred months for visits are March to mid June and August to October.

San Silvestre follows a March to December academic calendar.
